Your Guide

I'm Liam
Giuliani

I'm a travel and documentary photographer, also known as 7th.era, who has spent 10+ years documenting cultures all around the world. My work focuses on capturing the candid moment โ€” the real culture of a place, not the version staged for cameras.

This tour is designed around the photographs I actually want to take. Not the tourist trail. Tribal markets at dawn, remote river valleys, traditional villages. A small group, capturing the real of Vietnamese culture.

Partnering with Vietnam in Focus to make this the real thing

I'm not doing this alone. I've partnered with Vietnam in Focus, one of Vietnam's leading photography tour operators, to run this properly. Their team has spent years on motorbikes exploring rural villages across the northwest, building relationships with communities that most photographers never reach.

No setup shots. No staged moments. They scout these locations the hard way, and what they've found over a decade of work is what ends up in your lens. World-class local operation, English-speaking guides, all logistics handled end to end.

Why This Trip

Designed for
Photographers

Every location, lodge, and route was chosen by me and the Vietnam in Focus team, who know these highlands better than anyone. If you want to go deep with your photography, this is the trip.

๐Ÿ‘ฅ

Maximum 6 Participants

Small enough that everyone gets my full attention, flexible enough to move fast when the light demands it.

๐ŸŽฏ

Curated Minority Markets

San Thang and Sin Ho markets: remote high-altitude gatherings where Hmong, Dao, Tay, and Lu peoples arrive in full traditional dress. Not tourist markets.

๐ŸŒพ

Golden Harvest Timing

October is rice harvest season at Mu Cang Chai. The trip is timed specifically for the golden terraces, the most photographed two weeks of the year.

๐Ÿ“ธ

Learn My Process

Daily shoots, evening image reviews, editing breakdowns. You go home with a body of work, not just holiday snaps.

๐Ÿก

Hand-Picked Lodges

Ecolodges and homestays chosen for atmosphere. Mu Cang Chai Ecolodge overlooks the terraces. Sin Suoi Ho bungalows sit inside a working Hmong village.

FAQ

Common
Questions

What photography experience level is required?
This trip is open to all levels. I'll be with everyone the entire time โ€” the whole point is that we shoot together, learn from each other, and have fun doing it. Whether you're picking up a camera seriously for the first time or have been shooting for years, you'll get a lot out of it.
Do I need a visa for Vietnam?
Most nationalities (Australian, US, UK, EU, Canadian) can enter Vietnam visa-free for 45โ€“90 days, or apply for a straightforward e-visa online. Check the current requirements for your passport well in advance. Visas are not included in the trip price.
Is travel insurance required?
Yes. It's required for all participants. We're moving through remote highland areas where medical facilities are very limited. Coverage should include medical, evacuation, and trip cancellation. We'll ask for proof of insurance before departure.
Can I get a single room?
Yes. A single room supplement is available for +$300 for the full duration of the trip. Note that at some lodges deep in the highlands, accommodation options are limited; mention this when you book and I'll confirm availability.
What is the cancellation policy?
The $500 deposit is non-refundable. For cancellations more than 3 months before departure, all subsequent instalments are fully refundable. Within 3 months, cancellation policies follow the WeTravelWeTravel booking terms. This is why travel insurance covering cancellation is strongly recommended.
What camera gear should I bring?
At minimum: a camera you know well, a wide-angle lens (16โ€“35mm equivalent), a mid-range zoom (24โ€“70mm), and a telephoto (70โ€“200mm). A small prime is great for portrait work in markets. Bring a tripod for dawn shoots. A drone is recommended. Vietnam permits drones with proper pre-registration.
